The Princess
And The Knight was
Karen’s first production, which she
wrote, directed and produced. The
backyard production was a hit
according to all of the neighbors,
friends, family members and her pet
dog, Lady, who later, ate the scenery. |
Having honed much of her craft at the
knee of well-known Hollywood writer, Bud Freeman,
she attended classes at UCLA, converged with various writers
groups and was lovingly mentored by author/playwright, Brad
Schreiber. Spending years performing in legitimate
theatre also
enriched her creative expertise, as did a four-year acting tutelage
with the most exceptional Darryl Hickman.
She partnered with writer, Carrie Freeman,
adding The Agency to her credit
but altering courses found Karen striking out on a solo journey,
first, with
her musical Home, and then onward into varied media
penning Mastering
Love, Lookin’ On The Brightside, Paddy
Tilchen’s Kitchen, and Alice
Of Birch Street…to mention a few. She has left
part of the solo trail
joining forces with writing partner, Mariann
Aalda, to co-author their
ethnic etiquette advice column Dear
People Like Us.
Karen and Mariann can also be seen in the
anthology series Chopped Liver
and When Not To Call A Spade A Spade: The New Rules of
Ethnic Etiquette
which they are readying for publication.
Karen continues to work on projects with
Mariann through their company
PeopleLikeUs Productions.
